MillLine: Tungaloy’s Popular Lines are Now More Flexible to Use with the “TungFlex” Series

18. November 2013 – The market leading milling line from the Tungaloy Corporation has now been added with the new TungFlex modular mill series. The new addition of the TungFlex line brings in more flexibility to the customers with its interchangeable milling heads together with the adaptors.

The new lines have been introduced to reduce tooling costs and inventory for the end-user while significantly improving flexibility and reducing overall set-up times. The system has been developed primarily for the general machining and die & mould industries with the TungFlex series being targeted at machining steels, stainless steel, cast irons, hardened steels and superalloys.

The flexibility of the modular system enables the customer to not only change head types, but also change from steel to carbide shanks for specific applications. Additionally, with monoblock adaptors customers can vary the length of the cutting tool to suit the application. This feature also enables the customer to minimise costs by salvaging the carbide shanks when tool breakages occur.

Tungaloy has developed the new system to offer the end-user versatility with a multitude of head changeable units. To complement the existing DoFeedMini line, the modular heads offer the advantage of remarkably high feed machining with the added flexibility of head changeovers. With regard to the cutting head for the RadiusMill, the interchangeable heads accommodate the same inserts as the standard radius line but improve the adaptability for demanding applications. Additionally, the modular head for the TungRec line adopts the same rigid yet positive cutting principles of shoulder milling while offering 7 mm and 11 mm insert dimensions for enhanced flexibility and accuracy.

The DoFeedMini cutting head line is available with diameter range of 16 to 32 mm and provided with through coolant facility for improved chip evacuation.

The cutting heads for the TungRec line are available in diameters from 12 to 30 mm. TungRec line is offered with MJ, MS, AJ and HJ type chipbreaker and 9 kinds of insert grade. This diverse selection of chipbreakers and grades enables the TungRec head line to cater for the most diverse application range.

For profile milling, the RadiusMill offers an interchangeable head with 7 mm diameter inserts whether the customer chooses the 15 to 30 mm diameter head.

To optimise the potential flexibility of the TungFlex line, Tungaloy offers a straight shank, TungFit system, and ER-collet type shank adaptations. From an arbor perspective, the Tungaloy Corporation offers arbors in HSK, BT, CAT and DIN69871 to fit the suitable machine tool spindles and respective tool shank types.
